January 2011 Newsletter
Firstly, I would like to wish all our members and visitors a Happy New Year and hope it is a great one for your horsey goals and hope you achieve them all.
The 2011 NPHA Pleasure Celebration show is all set for 18th to 22nd May, 2011. Again being held at the fantastic Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park, NSW. The show is shaping up to be our biggest yet with prize money in excess of $100,000 being on offer.
The NPHA committee has decided to have three judges officiating for all of our Open Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle feature events. All three judges will place the class separately and the placings will be scored. Then all three scores are added together to end up with the final placings. This system is the same one used at the AQHA World Show in the USA. The committee decided that this is what was needed to further the standard of excellence of our show. If it ends up being a success this year then we hope to bring it in for all feature events in the future. We realise that this will push our time constraints for the show and we may have to extend the days from 5 to 6 to cover this new initiative but we feel it will be well received and worth the additional cost.
Jayes Park has taken over the sponsorship of the $20,000 2YO Western Pleasure Futurity and the NPHA committee thanks them for this kind gesture. Xtreme Quarter Horses have also offered increased sponsorship this year to enable the 3YO Western Pleasure Futurity to have the prize money increased to $10,000. We would also like to thank them for this kind sponsorship. JVQ Stud and Phoenix Farms have continued their exciting sponsorship of the $20,000 Weanling Halter Slot Futurity and also added a $10,000 Yearling Halter Slot Futurity. There are a few slots left for the Yearling Halter Slot Futurity and I also have a couple of slots up for lease in the Weanling Halter Slot Futurity so contact me if you are interested in any of these slots. These classes will have a specialist halter judge officiating.
There are a few opportunities left for sponsorship of the show so if you are interested or need more information please contact Joanne on 02 47335396 and we can discuss your needs.
The stabling/camping/cabin form is now up on the website and the camping in the South Park (closest to the stables) will be allocated on a first in basis. Remember, this camping area is restricted to competitors that are staying for both the NSW State QH Championships and the NPHA shows.
The NPHA has also taken over the running of the NSW State QH Championships and program and entry forms are also available on the website. Remember, this show has open breed feature events. There are many sponsorship opportunities at this show so please contact Joanne if you require more information. Sponsorship starts from as little as $50 per class.
The first payments for the feature events was due on 01/12/10 and the second payment is due on 01/02/11. If you have not already sent your first payments get them off ASAP as late fees have not been charged as yet so there is still a window for you to get them in before it will cost you more money.
Don't forget that if you are the owner or handler/rider of horses competing in these feature events then you are required to be a current financial member of the NPHA.
Lastly, if anyone has any queries regarding either of the shows please feel free to email me at jo-greg@bigpond.net.au.
Regards
Joanne Gregory
